I don't know if anyone has seen the trailer for The Cove, so here it is. I watched it a couple of days back at Cinema Europa (GV). It won many awards, including the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival 2009.
No spoilers in the trailer. It reveals very little compared to the actual film. But if you want to be seriously shocked, maybe skip it!
I've always been fond of the ocean, whales and other strange creatures like deep sea monsters. I've never really loved dolphins but even so, The Cove managed to effectively stir up genuine outrage within me.
What can I say, this documentary is very well done. I was expecting it to be one of those excessively persuasive and manipulative one-sided documentaries, but no, The Cove was nothing like that. It managed to be thrilling yet (mostly) objective, and was very real above all. Granted, there were elements of hyped-up drama here and there, but that can't be entirely avoided I guess.
I recommend that you watch this sometime! Nothing I have said will spoil the show because really, the film speaks volumes on its own. If you are a dolphin-lover, brace yourself cos The Cove might just be too much to handle.
