A Sunday Kind Of Love

I am in love with this film. It was absolutely charming, quaint, yet oh-so-British and every single character stood out. Set in the 60s that were not (yet) swinging in full-swing, 'An Education' made me think about why we're all here in university, studying our lives away to get what seems to be 'an education'. I love, love the picture above- it just captures the innocence and endearing essence of the film. I think there's a Jenny inside all of us (girls). I hope it reaches Singapore's shores soon! The music was also perfect- I can't wait to get my hands on the soundtrack. Truly a lovely and original film.

  1. I really loved that song too Shu. And I would love even more if you sent it to me. :)
    SPOILERS:
My only problem was that the story was a little more moralistic and preachy than I thought it would be. Saaaaaaarsgaaaard was, to me at least, wayyyy too much of a bastardy creepy douchebag - I wished that the choice was less clear cut, between going to school and living her life. More real that way. It was just too obvious, 'ohh Oxford is the right thing to do', when it could've been a lot more interesting and true to life otherwise.
    What dyou think.

i knew in the back of my head that he would drive away. but some part of me still wished that he wouldn't, and that he would man up and walk in the house and things would be resolved better between them. but i guess things had to work out the way they did in order to reach their politically correct ending.
i would have even preferred if they HAD got married, and she had moved away to Paris, and then later figured out for HERSELF that maybe the "right thing to do" for herself (not for her father) was to have gone to school, not because she got screwed over.

Yeah, I really didn't expect him to be SUCH an evil bastard, and I was kind of disappointed that they chose to VILLAINIZE (capitals intentional) him to that extent. I think it did take away the depth I was looking for from the story.
Anyway complaints aside, how sad was that scene with Alfred Molina - the CS Lewis monologue thing. That really got me BAD. Hahaha. :(

Saarsgard as David was perfect he really played the role with so much charm but you're right it did get a tad too moralistic towards the end and it broke my heart to watch him stay in the car and he was trembling and he did drive away. And yess- that scene with Alfred Molina holding the tea and biscuits and his monologue on 'Clive'. Sad sad sad =( I don't have the song kelly! But I do want to own the whole album soon. I wish David had got out of the car and made everything right.

But it wouldn't have been alright even if he'd got out of the car... Where Jenny went wrong, started from the very second that she got into his car in the rain. He was a total rotten user and he knew it too.
