Punchdrunk Love
Holy shit, this looks amazing. It's a play called Sleep No More (play? I'm not even sure what to call it. Installation art? Haunted house?) by this British theatre company, Punchdrunk, who have now joined the ranks of Guillermo del Toro and Anthropology in my People-or-Companies-I-Want-to-Work-For List. Basically it's a production of Macbeth, retold "as a Hitchcock thriller", which already sounds wonderful to me, but there's a twist - the show takes place in an old schoolhouse that's been transformed completely into a awesome spooky Gothic set, and the audience is free to wander around the building throughout the piece, exploring rooms, examining the props and decor(and oh! what props and decor!), and choosing which storylines or performers they want to follow that night.
God, how cool does that sound? I remember fantasizing about creating a piece like that, a truly interactive immersion piece, back in the ol' TSD days, but figuring it would never work - obviously I was wrong, since the reviews have been unanimously brilliant. Anyway, according to their website all of Punchdrunk's productions are in London, so - YOU GUYS!! Keep on it!!
(Sleep No More isn't showing anymore in the UK, unfortunately, but it has begun its first run in the US, fortunately, but only in Boston, unfortunately. Who the hell lives in Boston? I know this because of the Urban Outfitters Blog.)

ReplyDeleteThat's my favourite shop ever Huimin. It's freaking amazing. The site is pretty and stuff but it doesn't compare to actually GOING THERE; I was in one last week and I literally spent 2.5 hours just gawking at every square inch. Chock full of gorgeous.
I didn't mean like the field of study, Anthropology. HAHA.
