I have such a big crush on Mélanie Laurent as Shosanna Dreyfus in Inglourious Basterds that I'd almost prefer not to think about her existing in the real world as a real, flesh-and-blood human being. I wish she could just stay up there, incarnated in celluloid, forever one with the character, a perfect fantastical avenging angel for the rest of eternity.
Sadly, as much as Inglourious Basterds would seem to suggest, the world of film can not replace the world of cold, hard historical fact. Like the cold hard fact that she was at the finals of Roland Garros in 2007, the same time that I was there (the same time that we were there! Hello Des). Ughh. I agree with Tarantino; time is annoying. Let's rewrite it so I knew about her being there, stalked her down and got her autograph, or something.
See? Proof.
In the real world, according to Wiki, she is also recording something right now with Damien Rice. Man. I guess being French, smart, talented, extremely cool and having an amazing face really does get you everything in life. And oh, what a face. I could look at it forever.
And if you look at those pictures while listening to this gorgeous score... you can almost (but not quite) relive her beautiful death scene at the end of the movie.
