Anyway, mini news update on this side of the planet- so I attended this screening of The Wild Bunch (1969) at the Hammer Museum tonight, part of a series they have called The Movie that Inspired Me, where they get someone in the film industry to present a film that played an important part in their lives. The series is hosted by Curtis Hanson (director of L.A. Confidential! And 8 Mile and other things). Anddd guess who the guest was this time? Kathryn Bigelow! Yay. Quite possibly the very first woman to win Best Director in the history of the Academy Awards, for The Hurt Locker this year. I hope. She has to defeat her ex-husband James "King of the World" Cameron first. Anyway I was so impressed by Bigelow. I find it completely shocking that she's almost sixty. I would kill to look like her at forty. I mean... what the hell?
So clever and talented and down-to-earth and just cool, too. Role model. We were sitting right in front so we even got to talk to her a little bit afterwards, which was super-exciting. Of course I'd forgotten to charge my camera's battery, because things can never just go perfectly right, or I would have taken a picture with her. Damn. That would've been one for the grandchildren.
Whoa nelly she's almost 60??? She looks like a hot 40 year old. Darn. And ahhh I really want to see the hurt locker- hopefully it comes out at the independent cinemas soon. And ahhhhh the killers =( going on an indefinite hiatus- breaks my heart.
