Place: Big Splash Starbucks. Date: About a month ago (days meld into each other when you're studying), sometime in the afternoon (hours meld into each other when you're studying)
I am studying as usual for the exams. Miss Cindy Low walks into Starbucks with male friend. OH HI, she says, fancy bumping into you here. We talk for a bit and she sits down at the table beside me and my friend. I hear them talking about a trip.
Part Two
Place: Changi Airport T3 Boarding Gate. Date: Thurs 2 Dec, 1am.
I am queuing up to board my plane to Shanghai. I am crazy tired and cranky as hell. I spot someone familiar from afar and omg, could it be? It was Miss Low and said friend. Turns out they're on my flight to Shanghai as well. She is here on a holiday and we make plans to meet on Friday for lunch.
(We meet on Friday for lunch. I bring them to my favourite Shanghai restaurant and all goes well. Her friend was Dax's classmate in VS and is really nice. We make plans to meet on Sunday after her friend flies off in the morning - she catches an early 5am flight on Monday to Beijing.)
Part Three
Place: One of the pretty, European style streets off the main shopping district that I love. Date: Sat, 4 Dec in the afternoon
I walk by the tiniest cafe I've ever seen. My mum does a double take - wait is that your teacher? It is - she is in a cafe with her friend. And it turns out, just at that very moment, her friend had been reading off, from one of the books in the cafes, this very passage:
We laugh like mad at the craziness of it all.
(Sunday I meet her as planned and we shop around the box shops together, eat street food and walk through random parks. She tells me a lot of interesting stuff and after awhile she sort of feels like a friend? She asks me to call her Cindy. Hahaha.)
And that, guys, is how I've ended up seeing Miss Low everyday since being in Shanghai. Seriously, what are the chances?!?!?!?!
WOW. WHAT ARE THE ODDS! Serendipity indeed m'dear! Gosh meeting in Shanghai nearly everyday?!
