So this is the animated short to end all animated shorts. Watch it at night, alone, in bed. I saw it at Alliance Francais last year and it killed me. It killed me. I can't say enough about it: the animation is in-s-a-n-e-l-y brilliant (has negative space ever been used so well? Has it?), the style is simple and eloquent, the suspense is lovely and terrifying, and the story builds up layer by creepy wordless layer. Of all the shorts I've ever seen, including the famed Meshes of the Afternoon, this is the only short I would ever marry. If it was a woman I would turn lesbian for it. No?
