Putting together Gatsby

We all love the novel. And Baz Luhrmann is going to make it come alive. I'm split in my response to it- on one hand I'm thrilled that it's going to get the Luhrmann-Moulin-Roue treatment because I'm pretty darn sure Luhrmann will show off his version of the Roaring Twenties (which will no doubt be Jazzy, Roary and one heck of a wild party) but at the same time, I'm hesitant because it's going to get the Luhrmann-Moulin-Rouge treatment; Mr. Fitzgerald's story might be massacred (looking at Romeo and Juliet, Venice was changed to Venice Beach).

But the delightful Miss Mulligan has been cast to play Daisy- which comes as a mini surprise given the number of big names (ie Miss Portman, Miss Knightley) who auditioned for the role as well. Leonardo Decaprio is said to be Gatsby while Tobey Maguire (haven't seen him out of his Spidey suit in a long time) is set to play Nick. The question is: Who will play the Jordan?

  1. Is it really her? I just made that up in my post, yknow.
Also Shu I don't think you can assume BL is gonna do some kind of crazy spin on Gatsby... It kinda doesn't make as much sense as doing that to MR and R+J did. I mean Australia was pretty straightforward, no? And that was set in roughhhhly the same time period.

  4. HAHAHA I could picture Mr Pitt being Tom and I agree with Keira Knightly being jordan- she's hot and she can play Cold-hearted-woman-type-personas pretty well

  5. Brad Pitt would be a good Tom if this was being done 15 years ago, people!
I'm trying to think of someone who's enough of a pompous ass... and handsome but ugly.
