More Missed Connections

About a year ago I posted a link to this blog, and then promptly forgot about it. Then today I was scrounging around the internet and came across it again! I love it even more now than I did a year ago... what a wildly romantic idea that you can work against the fate you've been dished out and reach out to the person whom the cosmos have conspired to keep out of your life. What a crazy notion.

And it should really spur us all to act on our impulses, no? All these missed connections, stories of basically the same thing - human courage faltering at the last second. And we've all been there a million times over, in situations ranging from romantic to epic, trivial to life-changing (I think I could write a thousand of these on clothes alone - "To the Gray Zara Boots that were a smidgen too small..."). If you never try then you never know, right?

Anyway here are my favourites from the past year:

I am insanely curious about this next one. That moustache must really be something else - yet at the same time, he's really really really ridiculously good looking? Damnit, I want to see! :

And this last one gets to me very muchly because of the voice of the writer. The shy protectiveness, the indifference to literature ("some book"), the hilariously-timed, hopeful yet pathetic, deadpan punchline - it's so revealing in so few words! I'm immediately picturing this guy as kind of like Marky Mark in The Fighter (which by the way I loved). It's almost a poem addressed to the recipient, and it's so touchingly sincere/funny that I almost think it's fake. Cleverly designed expressly to tug on everyone heartstrings!
