In December, drinking Horchata

So ends the first week of school- and it's been a pretty exciting week un-school wise! OK GO got us rolling- the next night (on Thursday) we went to Somerset House (a charming place with a Victorian-gothic feel that is near our hall and school) for a surprise and FREE! gig by Vampire Weekend (we decided to see them even though we've already got tickets to their gig next Feb at the O2 Brixton Academy)! They played a free set in celebration of the release of their new album, Contra. We waited in the freeeeezing cold for about 45 minutes before they started playing and it was all good- they are quite a good live band. The first 50 fans even got to skate for free on the ice-rink that is at Somerset House now- it was quite a pretty set-up.

They played a nice mix of old and new songs- but horror of all horrors a short circuit occurred and the sound got cut off as they were finishing their set and two of their last songs (Horchata and Walcott) couldn't really be heard. But oh well! Can't complain- it was a free outdoor gig afterall.

Aside from band-watching, school's been all right- I've re-immersed myself in History and all its glory and I'm waiting for my lit books to arrive via Royal Mail. Lots to do in the next few weeks! JOHN MAYER NEXT MONDAY- I will completely hyperventilate by tomorrow night and on Monday. Good gosh all this just feels like a dream.
